Preschoolers making the world a better place
Preschoolers ages 3-6 and an adult are invited to explore the superpowers they have to make the world a better place during “Super You: Make the World a Better Place — Preschool Philanthropy Workshop.” The Youth Philanthropy Initiative of Indiana will lead stories and activities. Participants will create their own super hero and identify how superpowers can help others. Classes are scheduled at various libraries September through December. For a list of locations, dates, and times, click here. This program is sponsored by PNC and The Indianapolis Public Library Foundation.

Preschool cooking workshop
One week in! How are your kids doing?
We are one week into the new school year! How are your kids doing with the transition? Movement is necessary to help kids focus, which is why playtime is a vital part of a child’s education. For more, click here: “Put the Physical in Education.”
Stuff you need on the first day of school
Only one week left until Downey Preschool’s halls will again ring with the pitter-patter of little feet!
On your first day back, don’t forget to pack a small bag with an extra change of clothes for your child. Include head-to-toe clothing (including socks and underwear, even shoes if you have a spare pair) that is weather appropriate, and include any diapers, pullups, wipes, etc. that may be needed. Kids can get wet/dirty/soiled in a variety of ways, so it’s always a good idea to have spare clothing on hand.
Also, don’t forget your classroom paper supplies. We are asking each family to donate a package of napkins, paper towels, coffee filters (used as plates for snack time), 3 oz. or 5 oz. cups (the tiny Dixie cups), and toilet paper. If you are a Costco member, we need trifold paper towels for our dispensers by the sinks. They are just easier and less expensive to buy in bulk.
Thanks for your help in making Downey a cooperative place to work, play, and learn!
